Bupa Care Homes has been given a seal of approval by residents of Welsh homes. An annual independent survey of care home residents has revealed that 97% of Welsh residents rated the quality of care provided by their Bupa home as ‘excellent’ and/or ‘very good’. Regional Director, Tim Seal, said: “We are delighted with this response from our residents. The survey results also show that across the UK the overall level of resident satisfaction has reached record heights. “We have many dedicated people doing their best, day in day out, to provide excellent, individual care for our residents. I am pleased their efforts are being appreciated by the people who matter and who are in the best position to judge our care.” Bupa recognises that appropriate activities and stimulating interactions are an essential element of resident care and 80% of Welsh residents rated the choice of events and activities in their Bupa care home as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. Meals are also an important part of a resident’s care and 90% of residents in Welsh rated the food in their home as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. To support the care and wellbeing of residents, chefs ensure a wide range of balanced and nutritious food is available through menus that are nutritionally checked and that cater for individual tastes and diets. Bupa care homes are open to everyone and over 70% of residents are publicly funded. Care is tailored to the needs of residents and homes offer different levels of support from general nursing and dementia to residential and respite. There are many things to take into consideration when choosing a care home, including residents’ experiences.
