Bupa care homes in West Midlands have been given a seal of approval by residents. Results of an annual independent survey have revealed that the West Midlands based homes received an overall satisfaction score of 89% from residents who were asked to judge the homes on all aspects of their care. Natasha Southall, regional manager, said: “We are delighted with this response from our residents. The survey results also show that across the UK the overall level of resident satisfaction has reached record heights. “We have many dedicated people doing their best, day in day out, to provide excellent, individual care for our residents. I am pleased their efforts are being appreciated by the people who matter and who are in the best position to judge our care.” Great training and support are vital for care home staff and 98% of West Midlands residents recognised the commitment of staff at their home and rated the staff as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. Bupa does not have any stakeholders and so any profit is reinvested back into the business to be spent on things like refurbishing homes or building brand new ones. In reflection of this investment, 100% of the West Midlands residents rated their buildings and surroundings, as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded 87% of our English homes with a ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ rating for the care and service we give to our residents. The rating is judged on various criteria, including the experiences of people using the service, whether the home meets the key national standards and how well the needs of residents are met through individual plans of care. Bupa care homes are open to everyone and over 70% of residents are publicly funded. Care is tailored to the needs of residents and homes offer different levels of support from general nursing and dementia to residential and respite. There are many things to take into consideration when choosing a care home, including residents’ experiences.
