- Stellan Ungerholm - Medical Director of Bure Health Care - Åke Strandberg - new CEO of St. Göran's Hospital As of 4 April, the CEO of St. Göran's Hospital, Dr Stellan Ungerholm, takes up a new position as Medical Director in Bure Health Care's Group Management. Dr Åke Strandberg, presently Head of the Anaesthesia Department at St. Göran's Hospital, is appointed new CEO. "The appointment of Stellan Ungerholm adds an important function to Bure Health Care, enhancing the corporate management before the planned flotation. His experience of developing and managing hospitals is a most valuable asset," says Per Båtelson, CEO of Bure Health Care. Stellan Ungerholm MD, is a specialist in orthopaedics and children's surgery. He has been the CEO of St. Göran's Hospital since 1996. In 1994, St. Göran's became the first ever emergency hospital in Sweden operating as a limited company, and was acquired by Bure Health Care in 1999. "As Medical Director, I will have a groupwide and strategic platform to work from. It is an exciting challenge to take an active part in developing the leading health care group in the Nordic countries," says Stellan Ungerholm. Åke Strandberg MD, who succeeds Stellan Ungerholm as CEO of S:t Göran's Hospital, has worked at S:t Göran since 1994 as Head of the Anaesthesia Department. His previous positions include anaesthetist at Huddinge Hospital and CEO and owner of a company in the IT-sector. Bure Health Care Corporation, a subsidiary of Investment AB Bure, is the leading private health care provider in the Nordic countries. Its operations include Specialist Health Care, Occupational Health Care, Diagnostics and Elderly Care. Operations are performed in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Switzerland and Poland. St Göran's Hospital has 1,400 employees, 240 beds and reported sales of approximately SEK 800M in 1999.
