Burley’s innovative Travoy™ commuter trailer offers a hassle-free way to haul your stuff

EUGENE, Ore. – Burley’s newest trailer fills a void for the bike commuter – a convenient, secure way to handle your stuff, whether it’s a change of clothes for the office, a week’s worth of groceries or up to 60 pounds of cargo. Plus, at your destination, you can quickly unhitch the compact trailer from the bike and wheel it along with you.

“After 30 years of building trailers for kids, pets and cargo, we decided to focus on helping commuters do more on their bikes,” said Mike Coughlin, CEO of Burley Design. “Whether it’s shopping, hauling garden supplies, loading up the golf clubs or transporting a tuba, the Travoy™ can handle it. It’s simply the perfect urban trailer system.”

The trailer hitches to the seat post of any bike at a 45-degree angle, redistributing the load’s weight for easier riding. The Travoy sets up in minutes, attaches and detaches in seconds and features a revolutionary design that converts to a rolling cart with a twist of the wrist – so you can take it all with you. Weighing only ten pounds, the Travoy stands on its own when loaded or folds down to a briefcase size, even with optional bags attached.

With an MSRP of $289, the Travoy urban trailer comes complete with a basic cargo bag (also used to store the folded trailer when not in use) and tie-down straps for bulkier cargo. Accessory bags are available from $59 to $89.

Burley nailed it.  Their new Travoy – part cargo trailer, part grocery cart, part portable office–is an amazingly well- designed product.  Chris Sullivan on BikePortland.org

…There have been similar trailers around for years, but nothing has worked quite like this before. I just keep finding new ways to use it, and it has amazing load-carrying capacity. Jonathan Reynolds, MomentumPlanet.com.

I had an oral argument scheduled in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in downtown Portland, and the file for the case was HUGE… The last thing I needed was to show up in court with road rash. I had thought that turns and hills would be a challenge, but Noooo – there was nothing but sheer awesomeness. – Cecil Anne, Formerly Floyd Speaks Blog.

The trailer is all about portability… You can quickly hitch it and remove it from the bike and wheel it indoors just like a shopping trolley. There is even a bag for the trailer itself so you can store or carry it with you.  – Charlie Sorrel, Wired.com

At a time when more people are "going green" the Travoy comes along, offering convenience and efficiency for those using bicycles as an alternate mode of transportation.  – TipToeTurtle.com

I’m trying to convince my husband that I really, really need the Burley Travoy Bike Trailer with market bags so I can bicycle to the organic market (3 miles away) vs. walking to the local grocery store. I want this trailer.  – Chanee Vijay, MeLongings Blog

. .  the research and industrial design time Burley spent is evident. Officially, the Travoy is called an Urban Commuter Trailer and is intended to get groceries, errands, and so on. I think you could shake off that urban label and tour with it … they thought of what people do with trailers and sell snap on/off bags for that purpose. DL Byron, bikehugger.com
