Lloyds Banking Group achieve gold in Business Disability Forum’s Disability Standard
London, UK – Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has been awarded gold for scoring above 90% in Business Disability Forum’s (BDF) Disability Standard, joining a group of just five organisations on the Roll of honour.
The Disability Standard establishes what best practice is across a whole business in terms of disability performance. The Disability Standard recognises that the only way to make a sustainable difference in disability performance is by working across all parts of the business. The Disability Standard recognises, for example, that a business cannot have an accessible recruitment process if the buildings can’t be accessed by people with mobility impairments or the front house people don’t know how to interact with disabled people or the IT systems for making applications cannot be used by people with visual impairments and dyslexia.
David Oldfield, Executive Sponsor for Disability and Group Director Operations, Lloyds Banking Group said:
“Achieving gold status on the Disability Standard means a lot to everyone at Lloyds Banking Group. For us, it has always been about making sure our disabled employees and customers are on the same playing field as our other employees and customers.
Being part of Business Disability Forum, not only helps us meet our goals on disability, but it pushes us to be even better around disability. It makes good business sense to do this, but we feel it goes further than that. For an organisation the size of Lloyds Banking Group, we feel we should be setting an example, not only in the banking, but to all organisations.”
Angela Matthews, Advice Service Manager and Senior Disability Consultant, BDF said:
"We are very happy to have awarded Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) 'gold' status in their Disability Standard evaluation. Their levels of executive sponsorship, how they approach making adjustments for employees, candidates and customers, their Group Disability Programme, which covers each business area of our Disability Standard are outstanding. We were also very impressed with the work that LBG has done to improve access for disabled customers – particularly their work to improve the customer experience of people living with dementia."
