National training and apprenticeship specialist Business Impact has been acknowledged by a long term business partner Auto Marine cables following the latest round of training delivered by the company.

Auto Marine Cables based in Worsley near Manchester, has worked with Business Impact for several years ensuring all personnel within the business achieve a minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification in BIT techniques. Auto Marine Cables are specialists in the manufacture of low voltage cable and wiring accessories and also operates as a distributor of these products across Europe. It was essential for the business to underpin its success with a rigorous approach to continuous improvement. Using Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) the organisation refines and improves aspects of the products and services every year to ensure a constant focus on the customer and a competitive edge in the production of these products.

Alan Ainscough, Operations Manager with Auto Marine Cables explained: ‘We first selected Business Impact because they were approved by SEMTA, the sector skills body for our industry, and we wanted to find a robust and recognised partner for training. Business Impact have always delivered an excellent service, and their concise training programmes suit our business very well. We set a minimum standard for BIT techniques and felt it was important that everyone in the business was qualified to the minimum standard. This is used as a real measure of the quality of our workforce and as a significant USP to our customers, who rely on our expertise and our long experience.’

Alan continued, ‘The teams tend to select projects that tackle work related issues, implementing practical solutions to what have been at times long running concerns.  Because everyone in the business has gone through the training program, all employees understand the ‘improvement language & techniques’ and although might not be directly involved in the teams are prepared to assist with any improvement activities.’

Dave Radin, Key Account Manager at Business Impact commented: ‘We have always worked hard with our existing customers to focus closely on their needs, which inevitably change over time. The great success of our relationship with Auto Marine Cables has been that they wanted bespoke training that they could apply to real situations. Ensuring all staff understand the language of improvement techniques has been essential for the business to constantly focus on driving improvement into their products and services. It is a testament to the company that they put such a significant effort into people development. We have enjoyed the close working partnership which has formed over years, and look forward to continuing to support the business as it grows and develops.’
