Byggmax employs 271 during season peak

Byggmax employs 271 people in the Nordic region for spring and summer peak. 182 will work in Sweden, 66 in Norway and 23 in Finland. Seasonal job opportunities often lead to the possibility of a permanent employment. Several of Byggmax’s store managers are below 30 years of age and started out on seasonal contracts.

– We are looking for more talents, who will have an opportunity to grow with us. The Byggmax spirit includes working closely with new colleagues, coaching them and quickly letting young people take on a great degree of responsibility, which is very appreciated, says CEO Magnus Agervald.

Every year, Byggmax employs young co-workers who get an opportunity to build a career within the company. Erik Börjesson, 32, began as a seasonal employee in Luleå in 2006 and two years later he got a job at the head office as purchasing analyst. Now he is IT-manager since 2009 and a member of Byggmax’s management team.

- When I started as a seasonal employee, I wanted to learn everything and put a lot of effort into finding out what everyone did. After a while, I became the go to-guy. I worked really hard and it paid off. A seasonal employment is a good chance to get into the job market, said Erik Börjesson, IT-manager at Byggmax.

Byggmax had 571 employees in Sweden at the end of 2013 and opened 11 new stores in the Nordics. Byggmax is one of the fastest growing DIY chains in the Nordic region, and has opened 109 stores since starting up in 1993.
