Cabonline simplifies wheelchair ride bookings in Stockholm- new app feature strengthens accessible mobility
Customers can now book wheelchair-accessible vehicles directly in the Cabonline app booking flow by selecting the “wheelchair” option. The feature is part of Cabonline’s long-term efforts to create more accessible and inclusive mobility across the Nordics.
Previously, booking wheelchair-accessible vehicles often required manual handling. With the new feature, the choice becomes a natural part of the app experience, where travellers can specify their needs in the same way as when selecting options such as Regular, Comfort or XL- and soon Premium. By integrating the option into the regular booking flow, the number of steps in the process is reduced, making it easier to find transport that meets individual needs. At the same time, digital booking enables smooth in-app payments via card, Swish and Apple Pay, further simplifying the overall travel experience.
Cabonline currently has around 240 wheelchair-accessible vehicles in Stockholm and completes a large number of wheelchair journeys each year. During the test period, when the feature was rolled out without dedicated communication, usage increased gradually, resulting in the number of private and corporate customers booking wheelchair taxis doubling. This highlights a clear demand and shows that the solution works well in practice.
– At Cabonline, we work every day to make mobility more accessible. This update is a concrete step that gives more travellers the opportunity to book and complete their journeys on their own terms, says Rickard Alkhos Forsberg, Product Lead, Cabonline.
Behind the service is specialised driver competence. Drivers operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles receive training in the safe and supportive care of passengers with different needs, including training for vehicles equipped with stair climbers.
The launch in Stockholm is part of Cabonline’s long-term work on accessibility and inclusive mobility across the Nordics, with the ambition to further develop the feature and make it available in more cities.
