Cabonline Group Holding AB (publ) has been awarded two new contracts by Västtrafik for mobility services and on-demand public transport in Västra Götaland. The agreements run from June 2026 to June 2031 and include a significant increase in the number of vehicles as well as a substantial rise in the share of electric cars.

Cabonline has been awarded a contract by Västtrafik AB to operate mobility services and on-demand public transport in Västra Götaland. The agreement will enter into force in the summer of 2027 and run until June 2031. Earlier this summer, a direct procurement for 173 vehicles was also conducted, covering the period from June 2026 to June 2027. Together, these agreements strengthen Cabonline’s position as a leading provider of  passenger transport services for individual with special need, and of other essential mobility solutions.

The agreements cover a total of 173 vehicles – 164 passenger cars and 9 special vehicles – operating from Gothenburg, Öckerö, Mölndal, Partille, Kungälv and Ale. This represents a substantial increase compared with the current contract, under which Cabonline operates 125 vehicles. The total annual contract value amounts to approximately SEK 100 million.

“The expanded assignment creates better continuity in the traffic and makes it easier to attract and retain transport operators in the region. It creates a strong foundation for delivering with high quality and care for travellers,” says Christer Holmlund, Bid Team Lead at Cabonline.

The assignment includes patient transport for the Västra Götaland Region, special transport services for 44 of Västra Götaland’s 49 municipalities, school transport for more than half of the municipalities, as well as local and on-demand public transport within Västtrafik’s public transport system.

“These two agreements provide long-term stability for our transport operators and drivers. They give us excellent conditions to continue developing mobility services in the region for many years to come,” concludes Christer Holmlund.

In the procurements, Västtrafik sets extensive requirements regarding quality and the environment. Nearly 40% of the cars will be electric – an 85% increase compared with the current contract – marking an important step towards reducing carbon emissions and achieving fossil-free transport by 2030.
