Cal Flame Donates Barbecue Products to Community Garden for Skid Row Homeless

Los Angeles, CA—(July 9, 2010) Cal Flame, the high-end barbecue manufacturer from the Cal Spas family, is pleased to announce that it was the principal donor for the Weingart Center Association’s community garden built for the homeless in the Skid Row district of Los Angeles. The community garden opened with a morning ceremony on July 8, 2010 that featured Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles, and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard as guest speakers.

The Weingart Center Association sought to provide a peaceful sanctuary in Skid Row which provides homeless the healing power of nature to assist them in transforming their lives. The Cal Flame donation will be a key component in the success of this garden project. The Skid Row community garden is an AmeriCorps Week 2010 project, sponsored by the Weingart Center Association in partnership with Los Angeles Christian Health Centers, Los Angeles Mission, Midnight Mission, Union Rescue Mission, and Volunteers of America.  The garden was designed by Eva Knoppel of Garden of Eva Landscape Design Group.
