CALGARY – With an estimated one in two people in Southern Alberta requiring cardiac care in their lifetime this year’s Foothills Medical Centre Cabaret is getting back to the ‘heart of soul’. The November 1st event, featuring The Temptations, will celebrate Calgary Health Trust’s ongoing support of Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) and raise funds to pave the way for excellence in our province

“Everyone has a role to play in ensuring we can achieve excellence in health care,” says Tim Hamilton, Chair of the Foothills Development Committee, “Those who have supported this event have ensured we are a step closer to reaching our goal of $5.1 million to equip the Cardiac Hybrid OR.”

This year funds raised from Foothills Medical Centre Cabaret will go to support the development of a Cardiac Hybrid Operating Room (OR) at FMC. Development of the Cardiac Hybrid OR is an important step in meeting the cardiac care needs of Southern Alberta, and in continuing to attract and retain the best and brightest professionals to FMC.

Cardiac care inspired Scott Tannas, President and CEO of Western Financial Group to get involved. “Health care touches us all – whether for ourselves or someone close to us. As business leaders and community members we have an obligation to ensure that our clinicians have state-of-the-art tools and resources which will allow them to deliver excellent care to their patients.”

Though the event has a serious, side the evening is about having a fun, relaxing time with friends, colleagues and fellow Calgarians. Guests will enjoy an evening featuring delicious food, drinks and live entertainment.

Foothills Medical Centre is considered a leader in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and surgical approaches to heart failure. Due to the pioneering work of cardiologists in our city, coupled with excellent post-procedure care, Calgary has the lowest death rate following a heart attack for the past decade in Canada.
