Foothills Medical Centre Burn Unit gets a ship shape donation.
Crew members from Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Calgary will be at Foothills Medical Centre for their annual Stampede visit to the Foothills Medical Centre Burn Unit. Wearing their navy uniforms and white cowboy hats, the crew will present a cheque for $8,000 to the Calgary Health Trust in support of the Burn Unit.
After suffering a fire on their ship HMCS Calgary crew has raised more than $50,000 for the Calgary Health Trust in support of the Burn Unit. HMCS raises money for the Trust and other charities through various activities, including 50/50 draws, barbecues and their Cowboy Up event, which brings Calgarians and friends of the crew on board to meet the HMCS Calgary crew and experience a day on the ship.
Money that has been donated by HMCS in previous years has been used for purchasing priority equipment, staff education and research for the Burn Unit. Calgary Health Trust thanks HMCS Calgary for its ongoing support.
