Rockyview Hospital Staff are Strapping on Runners to Support Care on their Units
CALGARY – The fourth annual Run for Rockyview has more than 130 movers and shakers strapping on running shoes in support of their units. The run, taking place on September 12, 2012, allows staff teams to raise money for their unit/department/program with 100 per cent of all money raised directly benefiting their unit. This year the Calgary Health Trust’s Rockyview Hospital Development Council will award the top three fundraising units with matching funds totaling up to $6,000.
“It’s really great to see staff at Rockyview General Hospital rally together to raise funds for their units,” says Sally Flintoft, CEO, Calgary Health Trust. “This event really shows the dedication and caring spirit of the employees at Rockyview, and Calgary Health Trust thanks them for taking time to give back to the areas in which they work.”
Prior to the race Sally Flintoft and Nancy Guebert , Vice President, Rockyview General Hospital will present the top fundraising units with prizes. The 5 KM run or walk will begin at noon when the his worship Mayor, Naheed Nenshi fires the starting pistol. The run start line is located behind the hospital on the Glenmore pathway on the south west corner of the Rockyview grounds, near the heli-pad.
Since the inception of Run for Rockyview, over $38,000 has been raised by staff and volunteers. Money raised supports a variety of programs and services at the hospital including the emergency department, eye clinic, neonatal intensive care unit, internal medicine, mental health, and cardiac unit.
Parking: Lot 1 Parkade, south end of the hospital (the first Parkade when you enter the hospital grounds), located in the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology building.
