SACRAMENTO, CA [March 30, 2017]—Boutique hotels and B&Bs can be a welcome respite for travelers to large cities. The California Association of Boutique & Breakfast Inns (CABBI.com) has compiled a list of some of the best inns in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego with home-like comforts and amenities for unwinding after exploring the city's sights and attractions.

San Francisco

Inn San Francisco is an authentic 1872 Victorian mansion, located in the heart of the Mission, one of San Francisco’s most historic neighborhoods. Inside the drawing rooms, guests will find a welcome retreat from the city. The fragrance of roses, classical music, and candlelight take guests back in time. The mansion is elegantly furnished with antiques and features a garden patio with a hot tub and a rooftop sundeck with views of Twin Peaks, Cathedral Hill, downtown, and the Bay Bridge.  Guests can walk to Mission Dolores, explore the colorful neighborhoods of Noe Valley and The Castro, and access all of the city’s attractions via easy public transportation.

In the heart of San Francisco’s bustling Union Square, the Inn at Union Square has just completed a top-to-bottom renovation.  The renovation was inspired by the historic, Victorian homes of the city, and feature signature touches that evoke the feeling and comforts of home.  Each of the hotel’s 30 rooms are cocooned in luxury, featuring pillow-top beds with tufted headboards, plush robes, spa-like bathrooms with Carrera Marble, soothing Lather bath products and more.  A stay includes complimentary continental breakfast and evening wine-and-cheese receptions. Guests may order room service from Morton’s Steakhouse, request an overnight shoeshine, or access a nearby full-service health club for an additional fee.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Stanyan Park Hotel is an affordable, elegantly-restored, turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts-style hotel located directly across from San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Park. It's also just a stone's throw from the historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The hotel's comfort, design and service transports guests back to a bygone era of style and grace.  The hotel’s 36 rooms are furnished in fine, elegant Victorian style.  Complimentary amenities include a continental breakfast buffet each morning, tea service with freshly baked cookies each night, and a manager wine-and-cheese reception on weekday evenings.  Turndown service is also available upon request.

Sacramento

Overlooking Sacramento's Southside Park, the Inn & Spa at Parkside is an urban oasis of relaxation and renewal. Blending Asian and European influences, the inn beckons travelers with kimono-style robes, Jacuzzi tubs and a full-service spa offering facials, body treatments and massage. Guests are also treated to multi-course gourmet breakfasts each morning and a social hour with gourmet cheeses and refreshments each evening. The inn is a short walk or drive from vibrant midtown, the Capital Building and historic Old Sacramento.  The inn is also the closest luxury inn to the Sacramento International Airport.

In Old Sacramento, the Delta King  is a unique Sacramento treasure and an urban retreat. The historic riverboat hotel offers 44 staterooms with city or river views. The hotel blends old world charm and service with modern amenities and acclaimed cuisine.  The Delta King offers two riverfront restaurants for enjoying a relaxing dinner, a bar and lounge, and a murder-mystery dinner theater.  A stay aboard the Delta Queen includes complimentary made-to-order breakfast and free WiFi.  Valet parking is available.  Adjacent to Sacramento’s vibrant downtown, the Delta King is within an easy walk of many attractions.

Los Angeles

On a residential neighborhood near downtown Los Angeles, The Inn at 657 is a hidden treasure with grace, comfort and unforgettable charm.  Its five rooms are thoughtfully furnished and offer private baths, flat screen televisions, air conditioning, and complimentary WiFi.  A generous breakfast is served each morning in the intimate dining room or on the patio.  Off-street parking is also available.  The inn is located halfway between the Convention Center and Nokia Theater to the north and University of Southern California to the south and is easily accessible to many Los Angeles attractions.

Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles in a quiet San Fernando Valley neighborhood, Sweet Dreams B&B is a home away from home.  The two-story, Mediterranean style inn features three suites with private baths, WiFi, and flat screen televisions, made-to-order homemade breakfasts each morning, and a beautiful backyard garden with a pool and Jacuzzi.  While the neighborhood is quiet, the inn is still close to many Los Angeles attractions and public transportation.  The Hollywood Walk of Fame, Universal Studios, Getty Center and Griffith Observatory are all just a few exits away.

The sprawling city of Angels stretches to the beach to include the lovely Inn at Playa del Rey.  Named by Forbes.com as one of their ten Best Urban Inns, the inn is three miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), three blocks from the beach, and overlooks a 500-acre nature preserve.  A bike path along the beach connects the inn to the nearby coastal towns of Venice and Santa Monica.  The Getty Center and many other attractions are within a 20-minute drive. The inn itself provides a tranquil respite from city life with crisp white linens and upscale amenities.  Some rooms feature Jacuzzi tubs or fireplaces; others offer views of the bird sanctuary or the harbor.

San Diego

The Hillcrest House Bed & Breakfast is an inviting Craftsman-style inn with modern amenities nestled in the hip, uptown San Diego neighborhood of Hillcrest.  The inn is a great base location for exploring all San Diego has to offer.  It’s located just a block from Hillcrest’s trendy streets lined with award-winning restaurants, wine bars, nightclubs, boutiques and bookstores.  The inn is also just a short trek to the city’s cultural gem, Balboa Park, which features art, museums, music, theatre, gardens and the 100-acre, world-famous San Diego Zoo.  Sea World, the Gaslamp Quarter, and Old Town San Diego are also just a 10-minute drive from the inn.
