Dive into one of the many unique pools among California inns this summer. Several members of the California Association of Boutique and Breakfast Inns offer stunning pools to soak up the sun, find relaxation, and take in inspiring views.

Las Fuentes Inn and Gardens, just south of Palm Springs, features a heated, 60-foot saltwater lap pool, which is surrounded by desert gardens and a beautiful patio for lounging.  Radiating the spirit of the California desert, the private and contemporary single-suite inn also offers spectacular night lighting, trickling water fountains and views of the desert sky.  Visitors will enjoy thoughtful touches like modern Native American art, a Japanese spa with steam shower, premium spa products and fine linens.

El Morocco Inn & Spa in Desert Hot Springs is a Moroccan-inspired retreat just outside Joshua Tree National Park.  Mineral-rich hot springs fill the inn’s swimming pool and covered Jacuzzi, which are open day and night. Guests can warm themselves après-swim next to the inn’s open-hearth fireplace, or enjoy one of El Morocco’s signature cocktails on the patio. Sauna and a full-service spa provide guests with many opportunities for healing indulgence: over twenty spa treatments are available.

Inn at the Pinnacles is a Mediterranean-style inn perched above rolling vineyards in Monterey County, and is located a short distance from the entrance to Pinnacles National Monument, with its ancient volcanic rock spires and crags.  After a day’s hike in the park or a winetasting trip through the hills, the inn’s sparkling saltwater pool provides an inviting way to cool off and soak up the grand vistas of the surrounding Gabilan Mountains. A full breakfast is served daily in the Pinnacles Dining Room, and the inn’s six guest rooms provide comfort and relaxation in a peaceful setting.

Calistoga’s Mount View Hotel & Spa offers guests relaxation in a setting renowned for its healing waters.  The resort’s large, heated outdoor pool invites guests to soak away their cares. The spa also offers a 103-degree mineral whirlpool that is fed and heated by an on-site geothermal well. After a leisurely swim, guests can lounge under the cabanas, stroll the resort’s garden path or enjoy a poolside wine tasting. Visitors will rest easy in the hotel’s spacious rooms and enjoy amenities such as breakfast in bed, aromatherapy bath products, featherbeds and high-definition flat screen TVs.

Also in Calistoga, the newly-reopened Chanric Hotel features a kidney-shaped pool and whirlpool with gorgeous views of Mount St. Helena and the Palisades Hills.  The pool is surrounded by a garden of roses and stonework created by a local artisan.  The garden pool area sits at the top of a terraced hillside and is open until 10:00 p.m. each evening for soaking under the stars.  Inside, the renovated hotel features modern designer furnishings, luxurious linens and beds, muted color palettes and inviting private baths with Karibi and Carrara marble, contemporary stone vessel sinks and Thierry Mugler spa products.

Nestled on a 10 acre estate in historic Winters, the Inn at Park Winters is a sophisticated Victorian Inn offering a relaxing country getaway.   The inn’s large, curving salt water pool is heated year-round and features a beach entry and fabulous views of the idyllic countryside.  Cabanas, chairs and umbrellas provide comfortable spots for lounging around the pool.  Towel service is provided for guests.  Lifeguards are available upon request for an additional fee during events.  The inn offers four guest rooms, all with private baths and luxurious amenities.
