Catharina Borgenstierna participates as keynote speaker at the European Commission StartUp Breakfast today
The European Commission regularly holds inspirational breakfasts where they invite inspiring entrepreneurs to speak about their entrepreneurship, their journey and their challenges. Today’s speaker at the Commission StartUp Breakfast is Catharina Borgenstierna, CEO of Camanio Care.
Entrepreneurship is high on the agenda for the European Commission. Special interests are female entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship within welfare technology and health technology. As part of the Commission’s work with these issues they hold inspirational breakfasts, where invited inspirational keynote speakers get the chance to talk in front of senior officials of the Commission and have a conversation about the development journey of the company, suggestions for business policy to support growing companies, policy for ethical AI, medical data and how the EU can strengthen its competitive stance in the world. On Friday, October 4th, it is time for Catharina Borgenstierna, CEO of Camanio Care, to speak at the Commission.
– Camanio Care is in the middle of an exciting growth journey and our first years have only been the beginning of it. Today we participate in several different research projects, have delivered to a third of the Swedish municipalities and have just presented Camanio Smart Care, a digital care platform for the future. Now we will continue our growth journey and we see, among other things, that the regulations can be improved for data in both medical and social care. I look forward to speaking about that and much more at the European Commission, says Catharina Borgenstierna, CEO of Camanio Care.
Camanio Care have previously received several grants from the EU for research projects and have participated in several contexts where the EU is an important actor. At the same time, there are challenges for entrepreneurs in the welfare technology area, something Catharina Borgenstierna will encourage conversations about when she visits the Commission.
– The EU makes significant contributions to make entrepreneurship possible and strengthening research. At the same time, we see some worrying clouds on the sky when we analyze the conditions for our market. It is, among other things, the new Medical Devices Regulation which will make it difficult for smaller companies to drive innovation, due to very expensive and complicated certifications. In large, it will only be very large companies who can handle the new regulations, which would affect the whole business negatively. It is also possible to do more when it comes to standards for how, for example, sensors communicate with each other in care. I hope to be able to encourage the European Commission to conversations on these topics today, says Catharina Borgenstierna, CEO of Camanio Care.
The European Commission StartUp Breakfast will take place on October 4 between 12 and 14 in Brussels.
