“Helping Hart” giving initiative gains overwhelming support; Company partners with charity to distribute new clothing to families in Moore, Oklahoma

Hartwell Industries, a leading designer and seller of corporate specialty apparel, delivered on its promise to fans of its “Helping Hart” Facebook page by giving over five hundred new men’s and women’s polo shirts to families in need. The clothing was delivered through its initial distribution partner, Caring For Others, an international human services organization located in Atlanta, GA. Those impacted by the recent EF5 tornado in Moore, OK are among the first Helping Hart recipients.

Upon launching the Helping Hart initiative, a challenge was issued to social media influencers to share Hartwell’s “Get one. Give one.” message with their online networks. For each 5,000 “likes” on Facebook, Hartwell pledged to donate the new apparel through a vetted roster of charitable partners. The initial goal was reached within 48 hours.

“We’re elated by the online community’s support of Helping Hart,” said Jonathan Matthews, vice president of new initiatives, Hartwell Industries. “Due to their efforts, and the help of Caring for Others, we’re able to accelerate Hartwell’s mission of being good corporate citizens.”

Born out of the tragedy of Hurricane Sandy, Helping Hart was created to establish Hartwell’s social responsibility outreach and make giving easy for consumers. For every garment purchased on HelpingHart.com, Hartwell will donate a new garment to help someone in need.

“Caring for Others is serious about the business of giving,” said Eslene Richmond- Shockley, founder, Caring for Others. “So when Hartwell approached us about launching Helping Hart, I was delighted to find their commitment is for the long-haul. Our team is excited about working together to distribute clothing in communities, like Moore, OK.”
