NEW AGREEMENT GIVES CANAL DIGITAL CUSTOMERS MORE EUROSPORT
(Oslo 16.1.06) Canal Digital has entered into a new agreement concerning continued distribution of Eurosport and Eurosport 2 to 2,2 million Nordic house holds
The former alpine Olympic celebrity, Hans Petter Buraas and his Nordic colleagues in Eurosport, will during February guide Canal Digital’s TV-customers through almost 400 hours of Olympic coverage from Turin. The complete coverage, in Nordic lanuagues, of all Olympic disciplines adds a spice to this Winter’s Olympic TV feast and provides an excellent supplement to the National TV-channels’ coverage. With this new agreement Canal Digital’s viewers are guaranteed a complete coverage of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Turin in February 2006. In March the channel will broadcast both the Figure Skating World Championships and the Cross Country and Biathlon World Cup rounds in Holmenkollen. Other highlights throughout the year include Tour de France in July and the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in August. -Eurosport and Eurosport 2 are the European sport channels with the biggest variety in their coverage, concludes Svein Erik Davidsen, Managing Director of Canal Digital Norway In the Nordic region Eurosport employs 20 people working directly towards the local markets. The collaboration between Canal Digital and Eurosport stretches back to 1993. The distribution agreement comprises all of the company’s customers in cable, broadband (IPTV) and SMATV, and is exclusive for all of Canal Digital’s satellite customers. In January Eurosport 2 will celebrate its’ first anniversary after the complimentary channel went on-air in 2005. Eurosport 2 has fixed news and magazine broadcasts, several LIVE events and compliments Eurosport when two different events takes place at the same time.
