New head of Capio Specialist Clinics in Sweden and intensified focus on quality development and benchmarking
Martin Engström has been appointed new head of Capio Specialist Clinics in Sweden. Martin is a physician and comes most recently from a position as area manager at Hallands hospital Halmstad, Sweden.
Capio Specialist Clinics comprises the local hospitals Lundby (Gothenburg), Simrishamn’s hospital and Läkargruppen (Örebro), the orthopaedic specialist clinic Movement (Halmstad), the acute geriatric and rehabilitation operations at Dalen and Nacka local hospitals in Stockholm, rehabilitation in Saltsjöbaden, Centre for Laparoscopic Surgery (CFTK) in Stockholm and Medocular ophthalmology at several locations.
Martin Engström, born in 1969, is a MD, specialist in in anaesthesiology and intensive care and holds a PhD. Martin Engström has previously held positions as operations manager and area operations manager at Hallands hospital Halmstad, divisional manager within Oncology, Thorax and Medicine (OTM) at Uppsala University Hospital and International Medical Advisor at Novo Nordisk in Copenhagen. In parallel to these positions Martin has continuously been active within his field of research.
Martin Engström will be part of the Capio Group Management and report to Thomas Berglund, President and CEO, Capio AB. Martin has taken up his position on 3 June 2013.
Åke Strandberg, up until now head of Capio Specialist Clinics, will be responsible for development of quality reporting and compliance within the Capio Group, with benchmarking across business areas and countries. The aim is to create a structure and a compliance process which facilitate comparisons between operations and countries – thus enabling a faster change process for implementation of the best treatment methods for rapid recovery.
