Capitainer and Life Genomics Sign Partnership for Self-sampling Diagnostics Implementation

Capitainer, a leading Swedish medtech company specializing in advanced self-sampling solutions, has signed a cooperation agreement with Life Genomics AB. The collaboration extends the reach of Capitainer's self-sampling technology to new audiences, simplifies access to diagnostic tests, and makes it more convenient for individuals to perform tests from home.

By partnering with Capitainer, Life Genomics will be able to broaden its range and offer home-based testing options. This strategic partnership offers Capitainer additional opportunities to widely introduce new services leveraging the company's self-sampling solutions. Collaborating with Life Genomics marks a significant step for Capitainer in expanding the usage of its sampling solutions.

The first of the new tests to be offered focuses on hypothyroidism, a condition characterized by a lack of thyroid hormone, detected by using the markers TSH and fT4. The potential to revolutionize hypothyroidism diagnostics through a simple blood draw is significant. Hypothyroidism is as frequent as diabetes in many parts of the world, yet it is frequently undiagnosed. Through self-sampling, Capitainer and Life Genomics aim to improve diagnostic accessibility, thereby improving life quality for those with thyroid health issues.

"It's highly encouraging to see a Swedish lab advancing home testing while ensuring the quality of analysis remains high for those requiring TSH and fT4 measurements. This development paves the way for numerous possibilities to simplify the process for individuals and to discover efficient, sustainable healthcare practices," says Mathias Karlsson, Chief Medical Officer at Capitainer.

Life Genomics, a Swedac-accredited private laboratory based in Gothenburg, offers genetic tests to both healthcare professionals and the public, and is the leading private NIPT lab in the Nordics. NIPT tests are employed to identify chromosomal abnormalities in fetuses as early as week 10 of pregnancy. The company also offers tests for endometriosis, a condition affecting 5-10% of all women of reproductive age.

"For Life Genomics, the collaboration with Capitainer represents a natural evolution of our offerings, where we see the opportunity to apply our profound knowledge and our well-established laboratory to new types of tests. It is part of our strategy to offer high-quality analyzes with increased accessibility to the public," says Göran Jacobsson, CEO at Life Genomics.
