Capitainer recruits Mathias Karlsson as Chief Medical Officer

Medical technology company Capitainer recruits Mathias Karlsson to the role of Chief Medical Officer as part of an initiative to strengthen the team with additional medical expertise. Mathias. Karlsson is a qualified physician and an entrepreneur with solid experience in medical technology, life science and business development. He joins Capitainer from his current role as CEO of Equalis.

Capitainer has developed an innovative technology for self-sampling that could gain significant importance within remote care and precision medicine. The company aims to establish itself as the leading supplier of self-sampling solutions with market-leading clinical accuracy. The company is now taking a key step in this direction by recruiting Mathias Karlsson as Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Mathias Karlsson is an experienced physician and entrepreneur with a solid background in medical technology and extensive expertise in research and development, life science and business development. Most recently, he comes from a role as CEO of Equalis, an accredited Swedish EQA (external quality assurance) provider for laboratories. Mathias Karlsson has previously held the role of Chief Medical Officer for the Nordics at IBM, with a focus on IT solutions for healthcare services. Prior to this, he was the Head of Outpatient care at the County of Värmland.

He also has solid experience as an entrepreneur within medical technology, having worked with the development and commercialisation of a number of products for person-centred care and as founder of the companies Calmark and Hemcheck.

The recruitment of Mathias Karlsson as CMO further strengthens the medical expertise held by Capitainer while also supplementing the company’s existing technical expertise. The recruitment also expands the company’s network, to enable reaching more operative clinics. Mathias Karlsson will be stepping into the CMO role at Capitainer as of 1 September.
