CapMan introduces a new programme that invests in sought after private equity funds

The programme, established in the form of CapMan Wealth Services Investment Partners Fund (”CWSIP”), invests in sought after US mid-market buyout funds alongside AlpInvest Partners B.V. (”AlpInvest”), a leading global private equity asset manager. The tailored product is part of CapMan’s strategy to expand and diversify its product portfolio by offering local investors access to the unlisted market also outside the Nordic region.

CWSIP makes investments in private equity funds that invest in unlisted mid-sized companies in the US. CapMan Wealth Services selects funds for CWSIP from the same set of funds that AlpInvest invests in. This is the first CapMan Wealth Services programme that invests in private markets with approx. USD 90 million raised mainly from current customers of the company. The next tailored programme is planned to be launched during the first half of 2022.

“CWSIP is a completely unique offering in Finland and only the fourth of its kind internationally. The programme allows us to offer our customers the opportunity to invest alongside AlpInvest in the same funds that they invest in themselves. The first programme was offered mainly to CapMan Wealth Services’ existing customers, but we aim to launch the next programme targeted at a broader investor base already next year,” says Christian Borgström, Managing Partner of CapMan Wealth Services.

“It has been a privilege for me to develop a totally unique programme in co-operation with AlpInvest. Many high-quality fund managers are due to bring their sought after funds to market in the near future.  Because AlpInvest typically invests in the same funds independent of whether we select them for the programme, we can guarantee that our customers only invest in funds that AlpInvest believes in themselves. This ensures better alignment of interest compared to conventional fund-of-funds,” says Mikael Falck, Head of Private Markets at CapMan Wealth Services.

“CWSIP is a ground-breaking programme also as part of CapMan’s product offering. We serve local Nordic investors with 30 years of experience from the unlisted space and will bring other complementary solutions for this clientele also in the future. Due to our extensive know-how, we can offer and package the best solutions for our customers based on our own funds and external products that complement our product offering,” says Joakim Frimodig, CEO of CapMan.

AlpInvest was founded in 2000 as the private investment house for two Dutch pension investors. Today it is one of the larger private equity asset managers globally with more than USD 76 billion in commitments since inception
