Cardiff Aviation has entered the next phase of growth with the appointment of Theodore Dounias as Managing Director of the company’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations.

Dounias brings to Cardiff Aviation more than 35 years’ expertise in high-quality, consistent MRO management. The former Commercial Director of Monarch Aircraft Engineering has also served as COO of the first Indian low-cost airline, Air Deccan, and has spent the last decade as a high-level consultant to airlines such as Icelandair, Air Baltic, VLM and Olympic Air.

Dounias says: “It’s been a lifetime ambition of mine to lead a small organisation to success internationally, an organisation that its employees are proud to work for, its customers are happy to do business with, and its stakeholders are positively engaged. This appointment for me is the culmination of a lifetime career in the aviation industry, combining the experience, skills and knowledge that I have gained over very many years to fulfil this dream.”

Dounias will handle all aspects of managing Cardiff Aviation’s MRO operations and ensure that its rapidly growing roster of delighted customers will continue to reap the rewards of high quality British MRO engineering capabilities.

A graduate with two Masters degrees from Cranfield University in business administration and air transport engineering, Dounias also has a wealth of experience in leasing and purchasing narrowbody airliners, perfectly complementing Cardiff Aviation’s other operations in wet-lease and its unique ‘airline in a box’ concept

Bruce Dickinson, Chairman, Cardiff Aviation, says: “In just three years, Cardiff Aviation has gone from a precocious upstart, to an established provider of safe, quality aircraft engineering servicing an ever-growing range of blue-chip clients. With Theodore now at the helm, we can ensure we continue to steadily grow at a time when many other UK MROs are facing major challenges.”

Dounias concludes: “At Cardiff Aviation, I believe can I make a real difference. We will continue to deliver on time, on budget, hassle free, with quality and safety embedded at the heart of everything we do. As an aside, my ex brother-in-law, whom I am very fond of, would absolutely hate me for being allowed inside the premises of Cardiff Aviation, without knowing a single Iron Maiden song, let alone being able to sing it!”
