Cardo Health expands to Colombia

Cardo Health is continuing its rapid expansion journey, having closed a deal to partner with Colombian startup, Doc-Doc. Together with Doc-Doc, Cardo Health will now bring digital health to Colombia’s 50m+ citizens, aiming to build the #1 digital primary care provider in the country.

Colombia is struggling with an underfunded public health system, resulting in long waiting times, low quality of care and difficulty accessing specialists. Laura Gutierrez, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, has deep experience of the difficulties of the public health system having worked as a doctor for many years. She co-founded Doc-Doc along with serial entrepreneur Gabriel Castillo (CEO) and tech expert Juan Castillo (CTO) in response to an opportunity to fundamentally change the market and improve access to quality care in Colombia.  The company is also backed by 500 Startups, Seedstars and Startup Health.

“We are excited to embark on this journey together with the fantastic entrepreneurs at Doc-Doc” says Tobias Strålin, CEO of Cardo Health. “We believe that we as a team can make a real difference in Colombia and provide better access to quality healthcare.”

Doc-Doc is just the latest addition to Cardo Health, who over the last 9 months has acquired large stakes in ViBe Saúde, Brazil’s leading B2C digital health company, and in Kena Health in South Africa. The company has a strong pipeline for future investments and sees great potential in building local digital health leaders.
