Britain's not going for Gold when it comes to cars

While a Gold BMW is part of the Team GB sponsorship going for Gold at the Olympics, used car buyers, on the other hand, are favouring black and silver cars.

A 4,000 strong fleet of BMWs will be provided for Olympic organisers during the Games – with special golden BMWs touring the UK during the Olympic torch relay. However, data from car finance and dealer specialist carfinance247.co.uk reveals that:

  • 29% of all used cars bought in the last year* have been black;
  • 27% have been silver;
  • 19% have been blue.

The data also highlighted the three most popular brands of used vehicle that were bought with car finance in the same period:

  • Vauxhall 28.5%;
  • Ford 10%;
  • BMW 9%.

Overall, a black Vauxhall Astra SXI, with an average value of £6,550, was the most popular brand, model and colour of car sold.
