Customer data* from Carfinance247 – the online car finance specialist – highlights how gender influences the make and model of vehicle a used car buyer will choose.
The information was taken from 42 months’ worth of customer data and showed that while, overall, the most popular used car bought using finance is a Vauxhall Astra, there are differences between the genders.
Womens’ top 5 used cars are:
- Vauxhall Astra
- Vauxhall Corsa
- Ford Fiesta
- Ford Focus
- Peugeot 207
Mens’ top 5 used cars are:
- Vauxhall Astra
- Ford Focus
- BMW 3 Series
- Vauxhall Corsa
- Ford Fiesta
The data highlights that while men and women both favour popular vehicles such as the Vauxhall Astra and Ford Focus overall, there are some vehicles which are more likely to be purchased by one gender over the other.
More likely to be bought by women:
- Ford Ka
- Kia Sorento
- Peugeot 1007
- Honda Jazz
- Nissan Micra
More likely to be bought by men:
- Peugeot 4007
- Nissan Pathfinder
- Jaguar S-Type
- Mercedes E Class
- Mazda 6
Brand-wise, both male and lady motorists’ favourite manufacturers are Vauxhall and then Ford.
