FREE to public Money Management Seminar Sept. 27 FEATURES NATIONAL EXPERTS to help Chicagoans with their personal finances
Seminar Follows New Studies by FDIC and CashNetUSA Highlighting Need for Financial Help
CHICAGO (September 17, 2012) – Popular national personal finance experts Charlotte Stallings, Max Jaffe and Princess Clark-Wendel will offer Chicagoans practical advice on how to successfully manage their personal finances at the “Manage Your Money” seminar from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the University Center Conference Chicago located at 525 S. State St. Presented by Chicago-based online lender CashNetUSA.com, the free seminar is open to the public and interested attendees can register at www.CashNetUSA.com/manageyourmoney. Capacity is limited; registrations are being confirmed on a first-come, first served basis.
“We’re hosting this seminar to provide CashNetUSA.com customers and our fellow Chicagoans with practical advice from popular and trusted experts that can be used to help folks enhance their financial health in these times of financial uncertainty and struggle,” said Keith Weinberger, Senior Director at CashNetUSA.
The three speakers will provide advice on how to better budget your money and survive these tough economic times:
- Charlotte Stallings is a Houston-based financial expert who gives financial advice to top executives, emerging leaders and individual consumers across the country. Her energetic speech will help audience members learn to communicate about money. Charlotte’s powerful blend of raw reality chased with just the right mix of humor, candor and practical tools inspires audiences to shift their mindsets to enrich their impact on-the-job and in their lives.
- Max Jaffe is the founder and CEO of Dallas-based Spending Solutions, Inc. and works with people who want to understand how to manage money in their everyday lives, get out of debt and keep more of one's income. Max will speak on setting and managing a budget.
- Chicagoan Princess Clark-Wendel is a successful business woman, author, speaker, and media personality. She was recently named one of Chicago’s Most Influential Women by the Chicago Business Ledger. Princess will speak on how to live debt free.
The seminar follows the release of CashNetUSA.com’s new survey last week which found that one in four Americans now consider themselves financially distressed (link to full survey results). Despite experiencing a financial slump, most Americans seem to have good knowledge of their available funds and monthly expenses. According to the survey, 36 percent say they know the “exact amount” that they spend on monthly bills and 58 percent have a “rough idea.” A higher percentage of Americans (48 percent) say they loosely follow a monthly budget, while 25 percent of the individuals surveyed strictly adhere to it.
Additionally, the FDIC’s recently released “National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households”, highlights that nearly one in three Americans are either unbanked or underbanked; a similar percentage (29.3%) do not have savings accounts.
