Berlin’s historic theatre gets state-of-art ventilation system

Caverion has signed a contract with the public contractor BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) to renew the ventilation and air conditioning systems of the Friedrichstadt-Palast, Berlin’s most visited theatre.

The theatre is a historic landmark with 1,895 seats and it is home to the largest theatre stage in the world with an area of 2,850 square meters. In addition to the auditorium, the building consists of a multi-story foyer and catering areas.

"Due to the corona-related closure, we have brought forward the first phase of the renovation," says Sven Lemiss, Managing Director of BIM. "Since we are planning to reopen in January 2021, the construction time of four months is very short – with correspondingly high demands on delivery and installation times".

"Our personnel strength and expertise allow us to construct complex ventilation systems even in a short period of time", explains Frank Krause, CEO, Caverion Germany. "Especially in closed rooms such as theaters, a functional and modern ventilation system is essential".

Caverion’s delivery started in September and will be completed by the end of the year.
