Caverion delivers building systems for a new hotel in Denmark
Caverion has signed an agreement with HENT Danmark A/S on the delivery of building systems for a new hotel in the old Central Post building in Copenhagen, Denmark. Caverion will be responsible for the disciplines of Heating & Sanitation and Sprinkler systems. The value of the agreement is not disclosed.
The new hotel will be located in the historic Central Post building from 1912, designed by architect Heinrich Wenck who also designed the Copenhagen Central Station. The name of the hotel is not selected yet. The hotel will be operated by Nordic Hotels & Resorts. The building is inspired by French neo-baroque and uses exquisite materials from interior to exterior.
The hotel is scheduled to be opened as a first class hotel in early 2020. It will contain 390 rooms, a large event hall approximately 1,200 m2in size and several restaurants and bars.
“We are excited to participate in the rebuild of an iconic building into a concept hotel. From the outside one cannot see it is a hotel as this is a protected building with an unaltered façade. But on the inside we will help to install the 390 unique rooms with the latest building technologies through our technical expertise,” says Michael Højgaard, Head of Division, Caverion Denmark.
“The new hotel is a special building to renovate since everything inside the old building will be changed. The building is not built for the amount of pipes that are used nowadays and another challenging fact is that the building was built before using as much technology as today. Caverion’s solid knowledge in building systems is valuable for this project,” says Svein Ola Hopstad Soleim, Project Manager, HENT Danmark A/S.
After the rebuild of the existing building, the new hotel will be a fully modern building on the inside. The general director’s old office will be turned into a large suite over 100 m2and the former board meeting room will house a concept bar with the original interior from the old times. Outside there will be a heated swimming pool with associated facilities.
The project in the 30,000 m2large hotel has started and Caverion’s work will be completed in November 2019.
