Caverion enters partnership agreement on the maintenance functions at Taminco Finland Oy’s chemical plant in Oulu, Finland
Caverion and Taminco Finland Oy, the Finnish subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company (“Eastman”), have signed an agreement on the outsourcing of mechanical and electrical automation maintenance and workshop operations at Taminco’s chemical plant in Oulu to Caverion. A total of 15 current employees in the functions in question will be transferred from Taminco to Caverion Industry. They will join Caverion as existing employees from 1 June 2021.
Following the agreement, the operations of Caverion Industry in the Oulu region will be combined at the Laanila central workshop.
Eastman’s Oulu chemical plant produces formic acid and derivates for the food, textile, leather, rubber and pharmaceutical industries, and it has a total of 115 employees.
“Our aim has been to enhance our plant’s safety, operational reliability and the efficiency of maintenance processes. We believe that the co-operation with Caverion will provide us with greater efficiency, new operating models and additional expertise to support the operations of our plant,” says Joni Nygård, Managing Director, Taminco Finland Oy.
“Following the partnership agreement, we will form a service centre with approximately 60 employees in Oulu, providing design and advisory services, workshop and warehouse, electrical and automation services and an industrial maintenance development unit. From the Oulu service centre, we will be able to better serve production plant shutdowns and diverse projects. We are delighted that new experts in the chemical industry will be joining Caverion, and we warmly welcome the Taminco people to Caverion,” says Elina Engman, Head of Caverion’s Division Industry.
