Caverion equips the enclosed section of the motorway A10 in Austria with tunnel technology worth EUR 6 million
Caverion has secured a contract with ASFINAG, the public operator of the Austrian motor and expressway network, for delivering tunnel technology for the enclosed section of the A10 motorway near Zederhaus in the federal state of Salzburg. The contract value amounts to around EUR 6 million and includes design and engineering, project management and project execution.
The delivery covers several of Caverion’s technical disciplines such as electricity, information and communication, security and safety, automation, ventilation and air conditioning, and cooling systems in the new 1.5 kilometre-long tunnel on a 3.3 kilometre section of the motorway.
The new tunnel is built to significantly improve the noise protection, and as a result, to increase the quality of life for the inhabitants of the village of Zederhaus.
“By providing these technologies, Caverion will contribute to the safety and security in the tunnel as well as to an eased flow of traffic, which are of key importance when operating tunnels,” says Karl Ledermüller, head of Caverion’s tunnel technology in Austria.
The flow of traffic is eased through advanced solutions for power supply and emergency power supply, lighting, traffic and environmental data capturing as well as systems for transmission and processing of information. The security and safety will be ensured through efficient tunnel ventilation, fire protection, video surveillance, and alarm and emergency call systems, among others.
The work began in January 2015 and it is scheduled to be completed in February 2017.
ASFINAG belongs to Caverion’s Public sector client segment.
