Caverion implements the life cycle project of school and day care centre in cooperation with YIT in Kokkola, Finland

Caverion has signed an agreement with the city of Kokkola on the life cycle project of the Torkinmäki school and day care centre. The project will be carried out in cooperation with YIT. The value of the contract for Caverion is approximately EUR 12 million. The designing and planning of the project will commence immediately.

During the investment stage, Caverion is responsible for the design and implementation of electricity, heating and sanitation, ventilation and air conditioning, security and safety and building automation systems. In addition, Caverion provides property management, technical maintenance and managed operations of services related to the property for a service period of 20 years.

Caverion is responsible for the property’s usability, conditions, safety and general condition as well as energy use during its entire life cycle. The property is connected to Caverion’s HelpDesk services and 24/7 remote monitoring and management, which ensure meeting the goals agreed on the use of the property.

“This project is very significant as it’s the first life cycle project in the city of Kokkola. We can utilise our extensive expertise as well as our experience and operating models from life cycle projects we have carried out before,” says Martti Kaikkonen, Regional Director at Caverion.

The new building will be designed according to a cell model based on the concept of an open learning environment. New, innovative solutions related to space, lighting and sound technology, for instance, will be used in the building. Premises-specific opportunities for adjusting the space and combining different spaces will be taken into account in the design of the building systems, which will enable changing the purpose of use of the premises during the building’s life cycle.

The school and day care centre are scheduled for completion at the turn of the year 2016−2017. The gross area of the building is around 7,200 square metres. The lead designer of the project is Linja Arkkitehdit Oy, and SEB Leasing Oy provides funding for the project.

Kokkola City belongs to Caverion’s Public Sector client segment.
