Caverion Lithuania, together with Caverion Estonia, has signed a contract to deliver a cleanroom construction project for Tartu University Hospital in Estonia. The agreement was made at the end of 2025, and the project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
Caverion provides the full scope of technical systems for the new facilities, including heating and sanitation, cooling, automation, electricity, security and safety, ventilation, building envelope, technological gases, and process management. Caverion also develops the cleanroom design concept according to the hospital’s operational requirements. The work will comply with European Union Good Manufacturing Practise (EU GMP) standards.
“We are pleased to contribute our cleanroom engineering expertise to this project. Our teams in Lithuania and Estonia will work together to ensure the new facilities meet all technical and regulatory requirements”, says Egidijus Šydeikis, Managing Director, Caverion Lithuania.
Caverion Lithuania has 15 years of experience in cleanroom engineering, design, and installation, supported by more than 30 years of experience in building technologies. Its experts are trained in EU GMP and ISO cleanroom standards, ensuring high quality and compliance.
The new cleanroom centre for cell and tissue handling will be built as an extension to the D-building, covering 615 m² in total, including 192 m² of EU GMP classified cleanrooms. An additional 76 m² cleanroom area will be built in the hospital’s J-building.
“These new cleanroom areas are an important addition to our infrastructure and will support the development of advanced therapeutic products. We look forward to effective cooperation with Caverion throughout the project”, says Tauno Vanaselja, Business Development and Administrative Manager, Tartu University Hospital.
The upgraded facilities will support the preparation of advanced therapeutic products such as stem and CAR T cells, autologous serum eye drops as well as amniotic membrane processing, skeletal tissue preparation, and handling of ovarian and testicular tissue. The upgrade will strengthen the hospital’s capabilities in regenerative medicine, cell therapy, and tissue preparation.
