Green Monday, the second Monday before Christmas, falls on December 13th this year and will, as usual, attract a great deal of online shoppers but it fell from the largest shopping day in 2008 to only the fifth largest in 2009. Its better-branded cousin Cyber Monday grew significantly in 2010 to be the first $1B online shopping.
Why do so many people pick this day to pull the trigger on online purchases? This is the day that ground shipping deadlines start to expire, which according to Wilson, is not a concern.
“Green Monday is also overrated from a shipping standpoint,” Wilson informed. “Although it is close to the last day to get free ground shipping, there is still plenty time to get free expedited shipping. Most retailers now provide free and fast shipping all the way up to the 23rd.”
