Cell Network receives order for computer measurement system from Volvo Cell Network in Helsingborg has signed a contract with Volvo Lastvagnar AB for the delivery of a new computer system to develop engines. Delivery will be made during 2001 and 2002. The project will involve four to five people from Cell Network. Construction work on a new engine laboratory is ongoing at Volvo Lastvagnar in Gothenburg. The first test rigs will be taken into operation during 2002. As part of the project, Cell Network will initially construct and deliver five complete measurement and testing systems, based on Cell Network's Comtest solution concept. "This order gives us new opportunities to work with Volvo Lastvagnar," says Jan Gunulf, Manager of Comtest within Cell Network Sweden. "The assignment is also strategically important to Cell Network's investment in the automotive sector." Volvo Lastvagnar will be using Comtest as a tool in the development of new lorry engines with lower environmental impact. Comtest is included as part of a concept to handle the entire chain from preparation of the test, to the control and measurement itself, plus evaluation of the test results. "This new laboratory is necessary to deal with the development of ever more stringent future emission requirements for diesel engines. Alternative fuels and drive concepts can also be tried in this installation," says Hans Kedefält, Volvo's Project Manager for the new laboratory. Comtest is a general measurement and testing system containing many functions specially constructed for advanced functional testing within the automotive industry. In addition to the software, computers and I/O- systems, installation, setting the system into operation and training of Volvo's staff are included in Cell Network's undertaking.
