Dx3 and Cell Network to collaborate in digital distribution Dx3 Europe AB and Cell Network AB has signed a partnership agreement for the development of a system for digital distribution of music, video and film via Internet and other digital media. With this contract, Cell Network becomes Dx3's preferred partner and as such will receive a transaction-based fee as compensation for work performed. Via Cell Innovation Europe, Cell Network is investing SEK 25 M in Dx3, thus acquiring a 10-percent ownership share in the company. "Through our ownership share in Dx3 and the partnership agreement, we will be able to expand our expertise," says Marcus Bäcklund, president of Cell Network. "This is one of our first European investments through Cell Innovation Europe, and we see significant development potential in Dx3." Cell Network has been a Dx3 business partner since the company's establishment in 1998. Today, Dx3 is the European market leader. The partnership has taken shape through a number of projects that have resulted in user-friendly and competitive solutions. "Today there is a great demand in Europe for our services among music labels and consumer facing websites," says Christer Ljungberg, president of Dx3. "Because music is now available as data files on the Internet and can be easily downloaded without charge, the music industry is being undermined. As an alternative, we are offering systems that guarantee payment per use or per download. This protects income for both the copyright holder and the artist. Through Cell Network, we have access to the expertise in business development, design and technology that we need to create a secure solution for the long term. With this partnership, we will be able to lead development in our industry in the future as well." "Dx3 has, since January, entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Microsoft for the use of Microsoft Digital Media in Europe. The contract with Cell Network complements this agreement and gives us strength when we develop solutions for digital distribution of music, video and film for our clients," Christer Ljungberg continues. "Working with Dx3 is very stimulating," says Sie Elming, Director of Project Management at Cell Network. "Because it is a long-term contract, we are building up expertise in digital distribution of sound and video and always working with the latest technology."
