CellPoint's Unwire Signs Ericsson as Strategic Partner in Asia Stockholm, May 8 - Unwire, a subsidiary of CellPoint Inc (NASD: CLPT; www.cellpt.com) and Ericsson Business Consulting (Nasdaq: ERICY) have signed an agreement for Ericsson to deliver solutions in South East Asia based on Unwire's programmable GSM terminals. Ericsson has initially committed to buy several hundred terminals from Unwire and has employed project leaders and sales staff to sell the new solutions enabled by Unwire's technology. Michael Wallón, interim President of Unwire, said, "The Ericsson agreement is a milestone for Unwire and a proof that we are heading in the right direction. This is one of a couple of very important steps for the globalization of our products." Ericsson has begun focusing on development using Unwire's GSM terminal platforms that allow applications to be added to common equipment as an alternative to custom installation and programming of motherboards on millions of devices that already exist. Ericsson has also commissioned Unwire to work with its staff in developing applications on Unwire's GSM telematics terminals in the fast growing Asian markets. "Starting with a multinational company with thousands of machines, Ericsson has many other very interesting applications planned for delivery using our technology platforms," continues Wallón. The first such solution was shown at an exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in late April. Unwire's commercial software application library is also being made available to Ericsson, allowing them to deliver standard solutions that are already proven in commercial use which means time to market for Ericsson.
