Celsius: Refit contracts to Götaverken Cityvarvet

Refit contracts to Götaverken Cityvarvet Celsius-owned Götaverken Cityvarvet has recently signed three contracts concerning major refits for customers in Sweden, Norway and Singapore. The combined order value of these three contracts exceeds SEK 110 M. The first contract, scheduled for the period February-March 1999, concerns a refit of the German ferry "Stena Germanica", to comply with the safety requirements established by the Stockholm Accord. The contract includes adding new sponsons, totalling 350 tonnes, along the sides of the vessel. The contract further comprises an extensive refit of the vessel's firefighting system, in compliance with soon-to-be-implemented environmental legislation. A similar refit of her sister vessel, "Stena Scandinavia", is scheduled to be carried out in the period January-February 1999. This will be conducted by Celsius-owned Öresundsvarvet, in Landskrona, Sweden. The second contract involves refitting a standard Panmax bulk carrier of some 70,000 dwt as a "transloader". It will serve as a lighter for larger vessels, subsequently discharging its cargo at a port offloading facility. The refit will be carried out during the period May-June 1999. The customer is a Norwegian shipping line, operated by Torvald Klaveness & Co A/S. The third contract concerns extensive deck-strengthening work on the car transporter "Salome", to be carried out in early 1999. The vessel, owned by Wallenius Lines, is operated by Sembawang Ship Management, in Singapore.
