Swedish National Rail Administration places order worth SEK 139 M Celsius-owned Kockums Industrier has received an order from the Swedish National Rail Administration for 12 rail-borne service vehicles. The order is worth SEK 64 M. At the same time options on a further 14 vehicles were signed worth SEK 75 M. The order is worth a total of SEK 139 M. The vehicles will be manufactured at Kockums' engineering workshops in Malmö. Production will start in August of this year. Final delivery is expected during the first half of the year 2000. These newly ordered service vehicles will replace the approximately 70 ageing service vehicles now used by the Swedish National Rail Administration for track and peripheral maintenance. They are a new generation of service vehicles and, even in their most basic form, are equipped with an inbuilt rotating platform, so that the upper section can be turned through an angle of o 180 C while on the same track. This type of multi-purpose vehicle offers much greater total economy, since each vehicle replaces several different types of earlier service vehicles.
