Centralis offers intelligent desktop virtualisation suite to UK market
Virtual Computer’s NxTop makes it easier for businesses to manage virtual desktops
London, 8 November 2011 – Independent IT consultancy Centralis is partnering with Virtual Computer to offer its clients the intelligent desktop virtualisation suite NxTop. The software is designed to make it easier for businesses to manage virtual desktops by combining client-hosted VDI with centralised management. NxTop gives IT departments the ability to deliver a single desktop platform in any environment, allowing the effective management of Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) devices at enterprise level.
Yuri Pasea, managing director of Prianto, NxTop’s UK distributor, says "When the thought of hosting desktops was first raised in the form of VDI, I didn't get excited. I loved the concept of centralised control of the desktop functions and data backup but felt that a Server Hosted solution would always be second class in performance and user acceptance to a classic desktop deployment. Server based VDI is very expensive to implement and costly to maintain. Virtual Computer’s NxTop has changed my opinion as it gives full performance and user acceptability with all the advantages of managing desktops from a central server at a fraction of the cost. I strongly believe in this model which is why I chose Virtual Computer as one of the first products I signed to distribute."
Robert Greenslade, sales and marketing director, Centralis, says “Virtual Computer’s NxTop extends Centralis’ capabilities to deliver a secure, manageable, enterprise desktop to any device. The rise of the BYOC philosophy means that organisations need to allow users the freedom of their own personal computing space in a work environment or, indeed, the ability to access the corporate environment from their own home or mobile device.”
Virtual Computer provides a single managed infrastructure of PCs supporting any combination of local desktops, remote VDI sessions, and server- and cloud-based applications. IT departments can allow end-users to create their own personal virtual machines that run alongside corporate virtual machines with full isolation, providing protection against a range of external threats, including viruses and malware.
