With just two weeks before nominations close, three chippies - East Runton Fish & Chip Shop Cromer, Fryz Peterborough and the Nacton Road Fish Bar Ipswich – are topping the local league table, all hoping to wrap-up the prestigious award. But they haven’t got it in the bag just yet! Voting is very close with nearly 50 shops, restaurants and pubs across the region* just a few fries away from the top honour. So cheeky Cheggers, National Chip Week’s saucy ambassador, wants every East Englander to chip in and vote for their favourite at www.lovechips.co.uk. “No one can resist a perfect portion of delicious, hot chips and I want to know where you get yours!” says Keith. “So if you’re dippy about your local chippy I want to hear about it. Tell me why your No1 shop serves the best chips in the East of England and it could be celebrating National Chip Week by winning a Perfect Portion Award. I can’t wey-ait!” Over 10,000 chip lovers from across the country have already nominated their favourite shop online at www.lovechips.co.uk. Voting closes on Wednesday 10th February 2010 so come on East Englanders why not show your love for the region’s top chippies and you could also be in with a chance to win Chips with Cheggers** – a delicious chip-tastic lunch at your local winning outlet with the legend himself! Organised by the Potato Council as part of National Chip Week celebrations, the Perfect Portion Awards recognise outlets that serve up a perfect portion of chips in ten different UK regions. Cheggers will be personally presenting five of the awards during National Chip Week (15th-21st February 2010), as well as performing his own Perfect Portion Award Anthem!
