2014 Ceridian UK Customer Conference

An expert panel session chaired by Siân Harrington, publishing director of HR Magazine, at the 2014 Ceridian Customer Conference provided over 600 delegates with insightful views on a ‘Fast Changing World, Fast Changing Technology’. The event was organised by Ceridian, one of the UK’s leading HCM technology and service providers.

David Woodward, chief product and innovation officer, at Ceridian UK said: “Tom Standage delivered an illuminating talk on the future of technology, including three key trends to look out for in 2014 – mobile, cloud and social – and his speech was followed by an expert panel session which drew further perceptive views on where technology is taking us, especially in relation to big data and analytics. The new challenge is what do you do with all this available data?”

Views from the panel session

Tom Standage, Digital Editor, The Economist

“There is a premium on people who can interpret the data for the benefits of the organisation.”

“There is a massive disconnect between tools and data with regards to analytics. There is a huge opportunity for innovators.”

Amanda Brady, HR Director, Premier Inn & Shared Services, Whitbread

“The youngest are using data quicker and challenging organisations. There is a need to adapt globally.”

“Hospitality has to become a digital business.”

“I have to be a commercial leader. I have to understand and interpret data to make the right decisions and influence.”

Phil Nilson, HMRC

“If the current pilots are successful, HMRC becomes digital by default.”

“However, certain people still need support where technology cannot help.”

David Woodward, Chief Product and Innovation Officer, Ceridian UK

“HR must not run before it can walk. Getting an accurate headcount is still a challenge for some companies. The challenge moving forward is to make sense of the data, not the technology itself.”

“You have to have the brain that understands analytics and understands what this means.”

“It’s interesting to note that Whitbread is leveraging TripAdvisor to further improving the position of its Premier Inn brand.”

The 2014 Ceridian Customer Conference was held on 26 February at the London Hilton, Park Lane.
