According to Gartner research, payroll outsourcing continues to grow steadily and is forecast to continue to do so for several years as more companies look at payroll outsourcing as a way to reduce HR costs quickly and enhance service levels to employees and managers. The payroll BPO market is growing in both traditional and cloud-based versions of its offerings and in both emerging and mature markets. Gartner forecasts the total HR BPO market to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5 per cent through 2017; as payroll BPO represents approximately one-half of this market, Gartner believes it will grow at a comparable CAGR.
