According to the results of an interactive poll of over 600 delegates attending the Ceridian Customer Conference, organised by one of the UK’s leading HCM technology and service providers, employers are beginning to really embrace mobile technology.

David Woodward, chief product and innovation officer, at Ceridian UK said: “HR, payroll and finance professionals from a wide variety of different sectors and sized organisations indicate that their employers are starting to recognise the potential of mobile technology with just over a quarter, at 26 per cent, stating that their organisations have embraced mobile technology a lot and a further 11 per cent planning on doing so soon. Over a third, at 37 per cent, do so to a degree while nine per cent are weighing up the potential but as yet have no firm plans. Only 15 per cent stated their employers were not embracing mobile technology while two per cent were not familiar enough.

“In his future of technology speech – trends to watch for in 2014, our guest speaker Tom Standage, digital editor of The Economist highlighted mobile as one of three key trends along with cloud and social. According to Tom, consumers are driving technology and for the first time last year smartphones’ and tablets installed technology overtook that of PCs, laptops and notebooks. He pointed out that organisations now need to think mobile as the first way as more people bring and use their own mobile devices. With organisations developing their own apps, the potential real value to organisations embracing mobile technology is significant and not one to be ignored.”

Conference delegates were further asked if HR and payroll were leading the way with embracing mobile technology. While 47 per cent of other functions were ahead and 15 per cent stated there were no marked differences across functions, 13 per cent considered the HR and payroll function to be the leader within their organisation.

The interactive poll was conducted at the 2014 Ceridian Customer Conference on 26 February at the London Hilton, Park Lane.
