Cooper SH, the UK’s leading provider of Konecranes port and terminal equipment, has won the Environmental Innovation Award at last week’s Rail Freight Group (RFG) Awards 2010 and came a close second in the Best Support Service Provider category. The RFG Awards celebrate the very best achievements in the rail freight sector over the past year. Cooper SH beat off stiff competition to win the award with Eco Drive; a tool that can help fleet owners to monitor driver behaviour and save up to £11,000 per truck in fuel costs. “This is an honour for Cooper SH,” commented Peter Astley, Cooper SH’s Sales Manager, who accepted the award. “We have a unique product in Eco Drive which provides unequalled cost savings and makes a huge contribution to lowering carbon emissions. Winning the award is recognition of the hard work and dedication we have given to help fleet owners manage their fuel efficiencies.” By introducing Eco Drive, Cooper SH has noticed an eight per cent improvement in a machine’s fuel consumption. This equates to 58 tonnes of reduced CO2 over the lifetime of one machine. In addition to winning the award, Cooper SH also came runner up for Best Support Service Provider after its continued efforts with the Malcolm Group at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT). Cooper SH has helped the company achieve 98 per cent uptime which is measured against the 142 hours that the terminal is open weekly. Cooper SH also has in place frequent review meetings that focus on continuous improvement to ensure uptime is maintained and turnaround commitments are met. “We are delighted to be recognised for our efforts in providing long term support for our customers and making a significant contribution within the rail freight industry,” added David Cooper, Managing Director of Cooper SH. The RFG awards were held in Oxford and it is the third year that the Rail Freight Group has held the awards. - - - ENDS - - - Image to support this release: High res image to download for print: click here Caption: Pictured from left to right, John Smith of GB Railfreight, Peter Astley Sales Manager for Cooper SH, Richard Walford of Burges Salmon
