Directors at Briggs Equipment, the UK’s sole national supplier of Cat® Lift Trucks, swapped their managerial duties on November 14 to raise money for Children in Need. Tony Rooney, sales and marketing director, Peter Jones, chief financial officer and Gavin Wickham, operations director, all helped to support the service centre, short term rental and credit control teams for the day. The company also saw David Barry, human resources director, greeting customers and answering the telephone on reception. The “Directors’ Job Swap” was part of a week of fundraising to help the appeal. Briggs also hosted a fancy dress ‘Celebrity Car Wash’ on Friday, November 20. Staff swapped their daily activities to work with the community and dressed up as their favourite stars to clean the cars of nearly 100 motorists. All the money raised throughout the week was then matched and donated by the company. The public met the likes of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and the Pink Ladies all using pressure washers supplied by Nilfisk. Staff also kept themselves warm during the cold day thanks to the people heaters kindly supplied by Travis Perkins. Gavin Wickham also joined in the fun and swapped his briefcase for a jet washer. “The BBC Children in Need Appeal is a charity close to us here at Briggs. We are very pleased with the amount of money we raised and we are proud to be associated with this worthy cause,” commented Gavin. In addition to the “Directors’ Job Swap” and “Celebrity Car Wash”, the company hosted a “Quiz Day”, “Big Cake Bake” and “Dress Up, Dress Down Day”. - - - ENDS - - - Image’s to accompany this release: High res image to download for print: click here and here
