Cooper SH’ s engineering service has entered Scotland for the first time after being made service and maintenance provider for Malcolm Rail’s Edinburgh and Glasgow rail terminals. The contract was awarded after Cooper SH helped Malcolm Rail reach 98 per cent uptime at its Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal. The Scotland terminals have a 45 tonne top lift and combi lift reach stacker where they handle nearly 260 containers that come into the sites weekly. Malcolm Rail hopes that with the help of Cooper SH, it will gain the same uptime levels and carbon reductions as achieved at the Daventry site. “We have been very impressed with the high standard of Cooper SH’s service,” commented Steve Sugden, Fleet Engineer for Malcolm Rail. “By helping us reach 98 per cent uptime, reducing our carbon emissions by 30 per cent and offering fixed costs, it was an easy decision to appoint Cooper SH as maintenance provider for our Grangemouth and Linwood sites.” Commented David Cooper, Managing Director of Cooper SH: “The Konecranes reach stackers include load sensing hydraulics and Eco Drive. This is a new asset management tool which can help Malcolm Rail increase efficiency and save up to £11,000 on fuel costs per truck.” The system will allow Malcolm Rail to monitor driver behaviour so it can get the most fuel efficiency out of its handling equipment. Cooper SH’s service support and highly experienced engineering team will also help the company reach optimum uptime and efficiency. Continued David Cooper: “We have excellent processes in place at Malcolm Rail’s sites and our working relationship with them has become the blueprint for our company. We look forward to extending our services in Scotland and having an engineering presence that will afford us new business development.” - ENDS - Image to support this release: High res image to download for print: click here
