Finnforest UK Ltd, the leading supplier of ecological Nordic timber and timber based solutions to DIY retailers, builders merchants as well the house building, construction and transport industries, has appointed Briggs Equipment UK as its exclusive materials handling partner. The deal, worth over £4 million, encompasses a fleet of 78 machines including 3 and 4.5 tonne Cat diesel counterbalance trucks, 27 Baumann sideloaders and 5 Combi Multi directional machines. With a unique combination of engineer coverage, stringent service level agreements, extended service hours and free service cover trucks if a machine can not be fixed within 12 working hours, Briggs has helped Finnforest to reduce its materials handling fleet by approx. 38%. Mike Lomas, Finnforest’s Operations Director, said: “This was an extremely competitive tender and Briggs were able to offer a total solution to meet Finnforest UK operational requirements”. We worked together to reduce the fleet size whilst significantly increasing productivity levels per machine. Service support was critical: our sites are geographically diverse, located across the UK, Briggs have 70 engineers within a 25 mile radius of each of our sites. This enables Briggs to deliver its guaranteed 96% uptime levels and a service response of less than 3 hours guaranteed.” With six sites spanning the UK from Tilbury in Essex to Grangemouth in Scotland, Finnforest needed a supplier who could offer a national single source solution across a diverse range of equipment. As well as forklift trucks, potentially access platforms and sweepers, Briggs supplied a fleet of Baumann sideloaders. Sean Herrick, Briggs’ Key Account Manager, said: “The sideloaders were a critical part of the materials handling solution and Baumann are a European market leader with parts supply and reputation to match. Our short term hire fleet includes 17 sideloaders and our long-standing relationship with Cooper SH means that we can fully support Finnforest’s needs.” The five and a half year contract includes full maintenance and service, resident engineers, and offers a single point of invoicing across a complex contract. Bespoke truck modifications to help reduce damage, tyre wear and reduce fuel expenditure, have also contributed to reduced lifetime costs. - - - ENDS - - - Image to accompany this release: High res image to download for print: http://media.changeworkscom.co.uk/clients/briggs/images/PR%20Photos/ext/1273/images/PR%20Photos/finforestchoice1.jpg
