A Stafford-based public relations and marketing firm has helped to raise nearly £600 to help feed starving children in India. Away from work, the managing director of Changeworks Communications, Sue Tupling, is a keen Yoga enthusiast and runs a number of classes for people in Staffordshire. Throughout January Sue ran special Yoga classes and sold copies of her own Yoga DVDs to raise around £295 for the Kanya Kitchen project - a sum that was then matched by Changeworks. An average meal consists of rice, vegetables, dahl and poppadoms, and costs between £360 and £1,000 for the 1,500 children at the kitchen in Rikkhia. Supported by the Satyananda Yoga Centre in Birmingham, the Kenya Kitchen project involves the renovation of a vast warehouse into a dining hall and kitchen to help feed 1,500 impoverished boys and girls. Sue commented: “In a difficult economic climate it is easy to forget that there are many children in other parts of the world that still do not have enough food to eat. I wanted to do something to help by supporting this project that will see every pound donated benefiting children who have been subjected to absolute poverty.” The support from Changeworks also reflects the company’s attitude to business and its wider responsibilities. “We believe that being in business shouldn’t be just about making money,” Sue continued. “As well as providing the best possible service for our clients we are passionate about helping other people whenever we can. “As a result, we plan to donate a significant proportion of the company’s profits to several worthy courses, both overseas and closer to home in Staffordshire.” Anyone who would like more information about Sue’s yoga classes or the Kenya Kitchen project or would like to donate, should visit Sue’s yoga website http://www.myyoga.org.uk/ or the SYC Birmingham site: http://www.sycbirmingham.com/rikhia-2011.htm . - E N D S -
