Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to launch new website
Charlotte, NC – Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 – In just one week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg citizens will see improved online access to the resources of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, with a complete redesign of the Library’s primary website, www.cmlibrary.org.
As demand for digital access to information has grown, the Library has been working to meet those needs. The Library has taken several steps forward in improving digital access in the past year, but the launch of the new website on Sept. 28 represents the first in several “big leaps.”
Among many long-awaited features, the new Library website will offer:
- Optimal viewing on all devices thanks to responsive design
- Easier navigation and access
- Simpler, cleaner design
- Fresh, streamlined content
- Easier searching
- Easier to find via search engines
- Blog content that is accessible and integrated into the site
"Many people rely on the Library’s website for access to information - nearly 200,000 users visited the Library’s website last month. Our goal with this redesign is an improved experience for those people, and an opportunity to draw in new users of the website," says Jessica Davis, Digital Strategy Manager for the Library.
People with feedback about the new website can go to www.cmlibrary.org/contact.
The next major step forward in the Library’s digital strategy will be an improved catalog searching tool coming in January of 2016. More details will be released in late 2015.
Funding for the Library’s website redesign comes from additional Mecklenburg County funding to implement the Library's digital strategy in FY 2016.
